Through a collaborative effort, they transformed discarded plastic into stunning artworks that not only adorned the store walls but also resonated with the spirit of positive change championed by The Body Shop’s founder, Dame Anita Roddick.

A Vision of Change

The journey began with The Body Shop’s ambitious endeavour to reimagine its stores in alignment with the values upheld by its visionary founder, Anita Roddick. For months, the team meticulously planned and strategized, aiming to infuse social and environmental dimensions into the very fabric of their stores. Inspired by Roddick’s pioneering spirit, they sought to foster positive change for the environment while continuing her legacy of activism and compassion.

Enter PECO:

PECO, which stands for Plastic Essence Collaborative, emerged as the ideal partner for The Body Shop’s sustainability mission. With a shared commitment to turning waste into wonder, PECO embarked on a transformative journey to create collaborative artworks from plastic waste. For PECO, sustainability is a creative solution, a collaborative effort, and, above all, a fun experience.

Whale Watchers

The inaugural collaboration between PECO and The Body Shop resulted in the creation of ‘Whale Watchers,’ a captivating artwork that captures the imagination and celebrates the beauty of collective action. Crafted from 33 lbs of plastic waste, equivalent to 2,972 shopping bags diverted from landfills, Whale Watchers portrays an abstract depiction of a whale, with a playful twist. The artwork highlights the significance of small efforts in creating a better world, symbolized by the small fish swimming alongside the majestic whale.

It serves as a reminder that even the smallest actions can make a significant difference when undertaken collectively. Through their collaboration, PECO and The Body Shop have not only created visually stunning artworks but also sparked a ripple of positive impact, inspiring others to join the movement towards sustainability.

The Body Shop is on a mission to prove that beauty and sustainability can not only co-exist but go hand-in-hand. With each brushstroke, PECO breathed new life into discarded plastic, turning waste into wonder and paving the way for a brighter, more sustainable future.
