HUNTER Creates Summer ‘BLOOM’ Collection from ALGAE!

As part of the brand’s SS22 Collection, Hunter has launched its innovative new #HunterBloom Algae sandals and slides. This is the latest step in their ongoing commitment to making positive environmental change through the Hunter Protect initiative.

What Is Hunter Protect?

With a history rooted in environmental protection, the brand continues to make progress with its sustainability and accountability roadmap and manifesto which launched in August 2021. Setting the industry standards of responsibly sourced rubber, they have made the sector-leading commitment that 100% of rubber will be made with FSC®-certified natural rubber by 2025. Spring 2022 sees the Protect Our Forests FSC-certified collection continue to drive this crucial change with hopes other footwear brands will follow in its footsteps.

Why Algae?

When algae blooms grow in excess, it can be harmful to ecosystems by releasing toxins, consuming oxygen, and blocking sunlight from underwater plants. The algae in the material used to create the BLOOM Foam Sandal and the BLOOM Foam Slide was sourced using a process that cleans up natural waterways whilst saving water and reducing CO2 emissions. Every pair of sandals cleans and restores 101 litres of water to the environment and cleans 64 cubic metres of air of carbon dioxide. Every pair of slides cleans and restores 50 litres of water to the environment and cleans 31 cubic metres of air of carbon dioxide. Incredible!

Available in both styles for women and men, the blend of EVA (Ethylene-Vinyl Acetate, a stretchy rubber alternative) and this innovative new algae material creates a flexible, waterproof, lightweight and durable style with a lower environmental impact – perfect for those long summer days to come.

Hunter is (mostly) Vegan

Hunter confirms its rubber rain boots are vegan as their made with a natural rubber material. In fact, Hunter claims that they currently have 278 products (footwear, accessories, outerwear) that are certified 100% vegan!
