Unpopular opinion? Condiments are the unsung hero behind every great meal. Thoughts? Whether we admit it or not, we depend on these plant-based add-ons to amp up the dishes’ flavours or to rescue a bland dish from the bin! From your childhood go-to’s like ketchup and HP sauce, mustard and mayonnaise, to the tongue-tingling delights of hot sauces, how often do you enjoy a meal without a little daub or dip of something yummy?
At CHFA in April, we met an incredible couple from Calgary, Vivien and Richard, who shared their unique European Flavour Factory hot sauces. The products were hard to miss with their eye-catching graphics and range of flavours on display.
Heavily Invested in Hotness
Together, these two created European Flavour Factory, which expands on the sauce recipes produced by Richard’s parents in Europe. Their product line has flavours for everyone, and best of all, their hot sauces are non-vinegar based, vegan, and gluten-free — except for the BBQ sauce.
Vivien and Richard also have a passion for gardening and cooking and even grow their own Carolina Reapers in their backyard greenhouse. That is dedication!
We love that every sauce features incredible illustrative art and tribute to the duo’s favourite places worldwide – Hungary, Germany, Turkey, France, and the Caribbean. These labels are definitely conversation starters featuring homages to firefighters, first responders, and fierce K-9 units with as much bite as their hottest sauce.
Award-Winning Hot Sauces
The brand now has three significant awards under its belt and garnered in just the past two years. This team is on its way to becoming a household name. (Move aside Frank!)
The Caribbean Affair Hot Sauce won 3rd place at the Fiery Food Challenge in Caribbean Style Hot Sauces category.
The Shady Business Spicy Cocoa BBQ Sauce wowed judges at the prestigious Scovie Awards and placed 2nd in World Beat BBQ for 2022.
The Hot Pursuit Burning Hot Sauce was awarded 2022’s Best Hot Wing Sauce by the judges at Scovie Awards.
European Flavour Factory is ready to spice up the day-to-day lives of hot sauce lovers and business owners everywhere! Find their products at grocers and specialty shops in British Columbia, Alberta, Ontario, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, Quebec, and the Northwest Territories!
